About visits

Start times and safety requirements of educational visits

A visit to Latvijas Banka's Knowledge Centre is subject to a number of clearly defined requirements arising from the strict security measures at Latvijas Banka and the concept underlying the creation of the Knowledge Centre.

Educational visits to the Knowledge Centre are organised in groups upon individual request. The display content is designed for visitors aged 14 and above.
The educational visits start at 9:30 and 12:00.

Visits can be booked for a group (starting from 10 people), such as a school class, or individually (up to 10 people).

If multiple individual visits are booked for the same time slot, we will combine them into a single group and provide guided assistance, keeping visitors' preferences in mind as much as possible.

The maximum duration of an on-site visit to the Knowledge Centre is two hours.
The costs of the educational visits are covered by Latvijas Banka; there is no charge for visitors.

The Knowledge Centre can be accessed through the main entrance of Latvijas Banka at K. Valdemāra iela 2A, Riga, (from Pils laukums); visitors' badges should be obtained in the lobby according to the previously registered visitor list.

To receive a badge, every visitor is required to present a personal identification document (with a photo).

Only small bags (e.g. handbags) are allowed on visits to the Knowledge Centre. You are kindly asked to leave any large bags, backpacks, or other items in the cloakroom. Security officers of Latvijas Banka have the right to check visitors' personal belongings with their prior consent.

Additional information for teachers

  • Secondary school students and first-year undergraduates are the most frequent visitors to the Knowledge Centre since monetary policy and macroeconomic topics form part of their curriculum, e.g. learning economics in secondary school.
  • The display content has been created to match the interests and background knowledge of this audience, with content designed specifically for visitors aged 14 and above.
  • Standard worksheets developed by the Knowledge Centre staff in Latvian can be used for student activities at the Knowledge Centre. The worksheets aim to facilitate the understanding of the display and the underlying concepts it explains. They have not been developed according to the school curriculum. Teachers are also welcome to use their own worksheets. Therefore, we kindly invite teachers to familiarise themselves with the new content of the display and develop worksheets tailored for their curriculum.
